If you are already a party line owner and need easy instructions on how to set up phone & web controls for your room owners click on Easy Phone & Web Control Set Up.

Whether you have your own party line or just a room anywhere on the system, you get all the same great features. Party line owners get just a little extra. I will list all features available, and the ones that are for party line owners only will say (Only party line owners have access to this feature)

The main difference between running a room and a party line is that with a room you only have the one room to control. On a party line you control the entire system which if you are good enough could have over 10,000 rooms, and even more added features not listed here.

Web control for room, and party line owners

Active Rooms

You will see the room number, start time, duration, room count, help, moderator, and actions.

The room number is your party line number followed by a - and the room number or numbers in use. If you are a room owner you will only see your one room. Start time is when the room first started. Duration is how long it has been in use. Room count tells you how many callers are in the room. Help will tell you if someone has requested help in the room. If any caller enters star 59 from in the room you will see the word Help show up beside it. You can then click on the room to view inside. The caller with the hand symbol beside them is the caller who asked for help. You can then click on the hand to make it go away after you helped them or if they press star 59 again it will deactivate. Moderator will tell you if a moderator is in the room. You will see the word Yes if there is one in the room. All actions are listed below.

The red X kicks the whole room.

The lock symbol locks, and unlocks the room so that no one else can enter.

The red circle starts, and stops the room from being recorded. You can then download your room recordings from the web control.

The green music symbol turns the room volume up.

The red music symbol turns the room volume down.

The microphone symbol with the X through it mutes all callers in the room.

The normal microphone symbol unmutes all callers in the room.

To view and control individual callers click on the room code you want to view under Active Rooms. For example 7124324800-13 would be room 13 on 712-432-4800.

Once you are viewing the room you want, at the top of the page beside where it shows your room count you will see all the same actions to control the room and will now be able to see, and control individual callers in the room.

The red X kicks the caller from the room.

The green music symbol turns the caller's volume up.

The red music symbol turns the caller's volume down.

The clear circle with the red X through it blocks the caller from the room.

Party line owners will see a red circle with a white X through it in addition to the other block symbol. What this does is block the caller from the entire party line, not just the room. (Only party line owners have access to this feature)

The microphone symbol will mute, and unmute the caller. When it is red they are muted. When it is green they are unmuted.

You can set the names of your callers so that they stay forever. Simply ask for your caller's name and type it in on your web control. Callers that are not yet named will say "Click Here To Change My Name", or they will already have a name. If you click on that spot a box will pop up where you can type in anything you want for their name. Then every time that caller calls into your room or party line or anyone else's party line their name will automatically be there.

Move Room

This allows you to move callers in one room to another room. You must have at least 2 rooms in use to do this, and it will move an entire room to another room of your choice. (Only party line owners have access to this feature)

Shoutcast

If you know a shoutcast stream you can add it to your system. You can then select it to play in the room of your choice. It is free to use, and works great. Play audio all day long. It must be a shoutcast stream to work. If you are familiar with winamp they have all kinds of streams, or you can find streams all over the internet. Another thing you can do with this feature is upload your own mp3's that you will be able to play in the room. This is great for audio bloggers, karaoke, or just playing music for fun with your friends. You can create your own playlists by adding all the songs you want in the box and putting them in any order you want. They will then play one after the other until the last song is heard. You can then start over again or play a different list.

Room Settings

This is where you can edit your rooms. You can add callers to rooms so that they can have web control for their room. Change moderator codes so that they can have phone control. You can add and remove features, load room greetings in wav format, and even change the room size to hold as many people as you like.

Once you click on Room Settings you will see all of your rooms. Your rooms start with the party line number followed by a - and then the room number. For example room 1 on the 712-432-4800 party line is 7124324800-1. Beside your rooms you will notice an edit, and delete button. Party line owners will notice 2 extra buttons. Delete all rooms, and create all rooms.

Edit Button

If you click on edit you will be able to change all the settings for the room. You can change the moderator code for phone control, add or remove features, load greetings, and so much more. Party line owners can select room owners that they want to be able to control the room with web control. All rooms are created with default settings until you edit them here.

Delete Button

If you click on delete it will delete the room and everything associated with it. Room blocks, allows, greetings, moderator codes, and all other settings will be gone. The room will then be recreated with your default settings. It will be like a brand new room that has never been used. So if you need to replace a room owner, it is very easy cleanup. Room owners can delete their own room as well if they no longer want it but once it is gone they will no longer have access to anything. If a room owner deletes their room by accident they will need to contact the party line owner to set it back up.

Delete All Rooms Button

If you click on delete all rooms it will delete all of your rooms, and they will all be recreated with your default settings. You will only want to do this in extreme cases, like if you made a lot of changes to your party line, and wanted it all reset. It will be like a brand new system, and any changes you made to your rooms, block lists, or anything else will be gone forever. (Only party line owners have access to this feature)

Create All Rooms Button

If you click on create all rooms it will create all your non existing rooms with default settings. What this means is that any room that already exists will not be affected. You do not have to worry about any of your settings being removed. If you want a room restored to your default settings you must delete the room first. This button works exactly the same way as calling out to your party line and joining any non existing room. This is just a quicker way of loading rooms to your web control so that you can edit them right away.
(Only party line owners have access to this feature)

Now if you click on edit to edit a room this is what you will see next. Everything is set to your default settings. This is the way all our party lines are set up in the beginning. You can make as many changes as you like to any or all of the rooms.

1) Room Owner. This is a drop down menu. Any room owners that you created will be on this list. Scroll through the list to find the room owner you want. In order for a room owner to have web control for a room, their name must be selected. Only you and that room owner will then be able to view that specific room with the web control. (Only party line owners have access to this feature)

2) Moderator Code. This is set to your default phone code. Never give out your default phone code to anyone as it is the same code for every room, and anytime you delete a room it will go back to that default code. If you have someone that you would like to be able to control a room over the telephone, change the moderator code to anything you like, or whatever they like. It will only affect that one room, and they will have total phone control of it. We suggest that you make these codes at least 6 digits since they do control everything in the room, but you can make them however many digits you want. Once you set one up they are easy to change if you ever need to. In fact if the caller you set one up for has web control of the room they can change their own moderator code anytime they like.

3) Presentation Mode (only moderators unmuted) If this is selected no one will ever be able to talk in the room unless they are logged into the moderator code.

4) When unchecked all room features are disabled. This should always be checked. If you uncheck this setting none of the features in your room will work. If you ever notice that nothing seems to be working in a specific room come back to this spot and make sure this setting is checked. You would only want this unchecked if you actually wanted a room like that. We have a room like that on our 712-432-1769 party line where we run content 24/7. In cases like that you would want this unchecked.

5) Check room totals by pressing 8 from the moderator menu. The default setting is to have this on. If you uncheck this setting, the room owner of the room will not be able to check their room totals over the telephone, and would have to log in to the web control to view minutes.(Only party line owners have access to this feature)

6) Change advanced room settings by pressing 9 from the moderator menu. The default setting is to have this on. If you uncheck this setting, the room owner of the room will not be able to change any of their room settings over the telephone, and will only be able to change settings with web control.(Only party line owners have access to this feature)

7) Manage your block & allow lists by pressing * from the moderator menu. The default setting is to have this on. If you uncheck this setting, the room owner of the room will not be able to manage their block or allow list over the telephone, and will only be able to access their lists with web control.(Only party line owners have access to this feature)

8) Roll Call. This feature is disabled at default but a great feature for those who like it. Unlike other chat systems, the roll call on this system can be added to an individual room. So if you want it in certain rooms but not in all your rooms you can do that. Another great thing is that callers will only have to say their name before entering a room once per call. Not every single time they join a new room which could get annoying if they like moving around through the rooms a lot. They only say their name once, and then any room they join that has this feature enabled; the callers in the room will be able to press Star 8 and hear their name, and anyone else's name that recorded it when joining.

9) *6 and *7 move between rooms. This feature is enabled by default. It allows callers to go forward a room by pressing Star 7, and back a room by pressing Star 6.

10) Allow callers to exit the room by pressing *0. This feature is enabled by default. It allows callers to leave the room by pressing Star 0. They will then be taken back to the main menu where they can select another room.

11) Set the room to be initially muted. If this is selected all callers will go into the room on mute. Unless Presentation Mode is selected callers will be able to unmute themselves from the room by pressing Star 1.

12) Announce the room count when joining a room. This is a default setting, and allows callers to hear how many people are in the room when they first join.

13) Display the talking bubble. This feature has been disabled temporarily as it was causing problems with our new system. We are working on a fix, and once we find one we will turn it back on.

14) Do not play entry or exit tones. If you do not like entry or exit tones playing when people come and go from a room select this setting to remove them. Callers will no longer know when people join a room unless they speak up. If you want the entry and exit tones removed from all of your rooms, you will have to check this setting off in each room. Since most people like them on, the default setting is to have them on.

15) Do not allow callers to hear the room count. If this is selected and a caller presses Star Pound to hear how many people are in the room, it will not tell them.

16) Room Greeting. If you already have one, you will have the option to delete it. You also have the option to force callers to listen to your entire room greeting. Callers will hear this greeting before entering your room. You can either record one on the phone if you have a moderator code, or if you have one that you recorded on your computer in wav format you can upload it by hitting browse, and then selecting the file. If force callers to listen to your entire room greeting is selected, all callers will be forced to hear the entire room greeting before entering the room. For the most part you will not want to force them to do so or they could get sick of it, and might not call back. If you have a room that is set up specifically as an information room for information on your party line, an advertisement you want people to hear, or you are running some sort of content where you need a strong disclaimer, and feel that callers should be forced to hear it before entering, then you will want this feature enabled for that specific room.

17) Max Room Users. The default is set to 0 which means your room will hold unlimited callers. You can type in any number you want and it will limit the size of just that one room. You can have different sizes on different rooms. They do not all have to be the same size if you do not want them to be.

18) Save Room Changes button. This is what you click on when you are satisfied with all of your changes.

Room Block

This is your room block list. You can delete callers who are blocked to let them back on, or if you know a callers complete telephone number you can add it in to block them if you do not want them on your party line. For your safety, and everyone else's we do not allow anyone to have access to complete telephone numbers on our system. The only information you will see on the web control is the area code and last 2 digits of a callers telephone number. For example 212XXXXX67 is all that any moderator would have access to on any of our systems. You would then have to know a callers complete telephone number on your own to add it in manually. You can also block out entire area codes or anything else you feel like blocking. If you need to unblock someone from a room on your system you would click on room block, scroll through the list until you found their area code and last 2 digits, and click on delete beside their number. Even room owners or conference users can unblock their own callers from their room. That means that if they have web control for their own room they will not have to go to you every time they need a caller unblocked which will save you a lot of time to do other more important things.

Party line owners will notice another button beside the delete button. It is labeled Add To Line Block. What this does is add the caller that is on your room block list to your line block list. Once you click on it a box will pop up where you can type in a reason for the block if you choose to add one and then hit save. That caller will then be blocked from your entire party line. You should then delete them off of your room block list since they are no longer needed on there, and will just clutter up your list over time. (Only party line owners have access to this feature)

Delete All Room Blocks

You will notice a button labeled delete all room blocks in the bottom left hand corner of the page. If you click on this it will delete your entire room block list. Only do this if you want to unblock everyone from your room or rooms.

Room Allow

This overrides Room Block. You can program any number in there that you want to allow into your room. For Example say you want to block out the entire 212 area code but you have one specific caller that you want to allow into your room that is from the 212 area. All you do is add 212 to the block list, and then add the 212 callers number that you want to allow to the allow list. That caller will then be able to call into your room anytime they want but no one else from that area will ever be able to get in. You can even add your own number on there just in case you or someone else blocks you by accident. As long as you are on the allow list you will always be able to enter the room.

Room Recordings

This is where all your room recordings will end up. You can download them, convert them to mp3, share them, or delete them when you no longer want them there. While on the system callers will be able to press star 52 from in a room and enter a recording id to playback a recording on the telephone.

Help/Preferences

You can change the refresh rate of your system. The default is set to refresh every 10 seconds.

Moderator Options/Manage Room Owners

You can create room owners or search the ones that you have already created. To create a room owner just click on create new account. Type in a username and password, and click on create account. This is what you would give to a caller to log into their web control. You will then need to go to Room Settings, and add that room owner to the room that you want them to be able to control. If you forget to add them to a room, when they log in they will not see anything. To change a room owners password or delete their account click on search. When you find the room owner that you are looking for, click on their username. You can then edit their password or delete their account. (Only party line owners have access to this feature)

Minute Reports

This is where you can access the minute reports for your entire system. You can search by date for day to day, search by month, or search any other way you want. Just type in the start date, and end date. Then click search date. It will load in seconds, and updates live. (Only party line owners have access to this feature)

Room Totals

This will give you complete room totals. That way you know how many minutes each room is doing. Your room totals update every 5 minutes. Even if they are only in there for a fraction of a second it all adds up. Room owners or conference users can even access their own minutes for their room which is unheard of. Room owners will only see the minutes that were done in their room. Party line owners will see all rooms on the system that have minutes in them.

Line Block

This works the exact same way as room block except it blocks callers from the entire party line instead of just the room. You have a separate block list for this where you can delete or add blocks to your entire party line.
(Only party line owners have access to this feature)

Line Allow

This works the same as room allow but will allow callers onto the entire party line. This is only good if you block out entire area codes from accessing your party line, and want to allow certain callers to get through, or if you want to add your own number so that you never have to worry about getting blocked out by mistake.
(Only party line owners have access to this feature)

Delete All Line Blocks

You will notice a button labeled delete all line blocks in the bottom left hand corner of the page. If you click on this it will delete your entire line block list. Only do this if you want to unblock everyone from your entire system. (Only party line owners have access to this feature)

Once you are used to it and memorize the commands you can skip past the menu by pressing the key you want. For example to mute the whole room you would press Star 8 for the menu then 1. You have to press Star 8 first but once you know it you can press Star 81 really quick, and it will do what you want instantly. The features are as follows.

New Sept. 14th 2010.

You can now press star 9 after you are logged in to access the same menu. All features work the same. So star 91, star 92, etc. In the near future we will be removing star 8 and only will use just star 9 for this menu.

Advanced Phone Control

The advanced phone control feature is just as good as having a computer. It lets you mute, kick, block, and even pull callers private right from your telephone. Once you are logged in press star 85. You will then hear commands on how to use it. The commands are as follows. Press Star to skip through callers. Once you have heard all callers individually it will start at the beginning again. When on the specific caller you want, either press 1 to mute, 2 to kick, 3 to block them from your room, 4 to pull the caller private, 5 to play the caller's area code and last 2 digits, 6 to decrease the caller's volume, or 7 to increase the caller's volume. You can press zero at anytime to go back to the room. No callers will be able to hear you while you are in advanced phone control mode unless you pull them private.

Record A Room Greeting

Press star 86 when logged in and your commands are as follows. To hear your greeting press 1, to record press 2, to delete press 3, or to exit press 0. Once you record one you can replay, re-record, save, or cancel. If you choose to delete you will need to confirm the delete.

Check Your Room Minutes

If you are logged in as moderator press star 88. You will then hear your total for the day. After your total plays you have 4 options. To replay your day total press 1, to hear your total for the month press 2, to search a range press 3, to hear your total for a specific month press 4, or to exit press 0. When searching a range you can enter any date to search, and it will give you your complete total within the range. Enter the 2 digit year, month, and day to start from, then enter the 2 digit year, month, and day to end at. It will then tell you your total minutes for the range. To get your total for a specific month you just enter the 2 digit month and year example 1210 would be December 2010.

Party line owners can check complete system minutes from the Line Owner Menu option 8. It works the same as the room minutes.

Change Room Settings

This is where you can add or remove features from your room. They are all the same options on your web control but now easily accessible from your telephone. To work this feature press star 89. You will then hear the commands. To change your moderator code press 1, to turn presentation mode on or off press 2, to enable or disable roll call press 3, to enable or disable move between rooms press 4, to enable or disable exit the room press 5, to enable or disable announce the room count when joining the room press 6, to enable or disable entry and exit tones press 7, to enable or disable check room count press 8, to enable or disable force callers to listen to your entire room greeting press 9, to change your room size press star, to exit press 0.

When changing your moderator code over the phone it has to be at least 6 digits to work. Presentation mode mutes your room, and shuts off most features. Moderators can unmute themselves to speak or give a presentation. This is also a good setting to use if you stream audio in your room. Roll call is a good feature for those who like it. Callers record their name before entering, and you can play back the names of all callers in the room. Move between rooms is the star 6, star 7, move forward, and backward through the rooms feature. Exit the room is the star 0 feature which allows callers to go back to the main menu. Announce the room count is when a caller first enters the room it tells them how many callers are inside the room. Entry and exit tones are the tones people hear when callers join or leave the room. Check room count is when callers press star pound to hear how many people are in the room. Force callers to listen to your entire room greeting if enabled forces people to hear your entire greeting before they can get into your room. Use with caution. If you have a long boring greeting callers will stop going to your room if this is enabled. Change your room size will allow you to set a limit to the number of callers that can join your room at the same time. The default is set at 0 which is unlimited, and it truly is unlimited. We have had rooms with well over 100 callers in them. Our systems can support up to 2000 callers before we need to upgrade. You can enter any limit you want for your room. So if you want it to hold 10 callers enter 10 pound.

Manage Your Block And Allow List

If you are logged in press star 8 star. You will then hear the commands. To add a caller to your block list press 1, to remove a caller from your block list press 2, to delete your entire block list press 3, to browse through all callers on your block list that you can unblock press 4, to add a caller to your allow list press 5, to remove a caller from your allow list press 6, to delete your entire allow list press 7, to browse through all callers on your allow list that you can remove press 8, or to exit this menu press 0.

So you can now add blocks if you know the callers complete telephone number. To remove a block, just enter the area code of the block to remove. It will then play a list of all numbers that are blocked from that area code which you can browse through, if there happens to be more than one. When you hear the area code and last 2 digits that you want to unblock press 5. There are many additional options as well. You can hear the total number of blocks on your list, browse through all blocks, as well as clear your whole list in one shot if you choose to do so.

The allow list works the exact same way as the block list. Just remember your allows over power your blocks. What that means is if you have a number on your allow list it will always get through no matter what. If you ever notice you blocked someone multiple times but they keep coming back, check this list. It is good to add yourself so that you can never be blocked by mistake or if you like to block out entire area codes from calling but want certain callers from the area code to still be able to get on.

Party line owners can manage their line block and allow lists as well as room lists from the Line Owner Menu option star. It works the same as the room block and allow list.
